“The concept of the costume combines a ‘new formal wear style’ suited for a modern-day sport festival with techniques used in traditional Japanese clothing such as ‘kasane’ (layering), ‘ori’ (folding), ‘musubi’ (tying), and ‘some’ (dyeing). At the same time, the costume adopts western functionality such as measures against heat. Embracing the diversity of the volunteers serving as escorts and tray bearers, who carry the medals and gifts on the tray, the costume comes in a dress or a trouser suit and the volunteers are free to choose which style they wish to wear. The uniform is made of state-of-the-art sustainable material that aims to fulfil SDG goals. The medal tray adopts a traditional fan motif and is made of sustainable recycled ABS material. Both the costume and the tray are designed and produced by an up-and-coming fashion director, YAMAGUCHI Sota.” - IOC/Tokyo 2020

The volunteers. Haven’t worked any event over the years with so many busting ass to make this games happen, add a global pandemic as well. What a team effort. Everyone there would try their best to help the media, athletes with anything.

Thank you for looking. The lead up to the Tokyo 2020 Games was a bit stressful with numerous (expensive) tests, forms, apps that needed to be taken care of before even boarding the flight over. Some were denied boarding or sent back home after landing in Tokyo.

Many involved to make this happen for myself. The SI crew, Nikon, and of course, 7-eleven.
